Legio Romana

(The Roman Legion)

              Legio Romana (the Roman Legion) is a short piece that tries to capture how it would feel to be a Roman soldier during the first century AD. It uses militaristic percussion textures and a brass-heavy fanfare to convey the strength of the Roman military, while indulging in some stylistic nods to John Williams' marches for villain characters.

While composing the piece I tried to keep the parts simple but flashy, with a few opportunities for each section to show off. Although it’s different from other Christmas pieces, this is sure to add some spice and interest to a Christmas program!
